  • Incorrect credentials provided: The authentication credentials (API keys, tokens, or passwords) entered are invalid.
  • Expired authentication details: The provided credentials have expired and need to be updated.
  • Configuration errors: Incorrect credentials have been configured in the merchant’s payment gateway integration.
  • Revoked or inactive credentials: The payment gateway has deactivated or revoked the credentials for policy or security reasons.

Troubleshooting and Solutions

  • Verify and update the correct authentication credentials in the payment gateway configuration.
  • If the merchant’s credentials have expired or been revoked, generate new ones and apply them promptly.
  • Merchant shall contact the payment gateway support team if credential issues persist despite providing valid details.
  • Retry the transaction only after the correct and active merchant credentials have been configured.
  • Implement credential monitoring to proactively alert when merchant credentials are about to expire or have been revoked.
