Root Cause

  • This error occurs when a transaction would cause the merchant to exceed the rolling-window processing limit for a specific payment source.

  • Gateways allows merchants to set transaction rules, including maximum transaction amounts. If a transaction exceeds these configured limits, it will be declined.

  • Gateways may impose transaction limits based on factors such as merchant risk profiles or card type restrictions. Exceeding these limits can result in transaction declines.

Troubleshooting and Solutions

  • Review your current processing limits in the gateway dashboard.

  • If you anticipate higher transaction volumes, contact gateway support to request an increase in your processing limits.

  • Inform customers proactively if a transaction cannot be processed due to limit constraints and guide them on alternative payment methods or splitting payments.
